Jake Wackerman was a typical Mariposa kid. He grew up here, graduated from Mariposa County High School in 2000 and left to pursue his life. He joined the Navy, and then returned to California.
He and his fiancé and partner Hanna Dutra opened 1850 in the building that formerly housed the Red Fox on Highway 140 in Mariposa.
The couple is pursuing a dream. Wackerman says from the very first time he met Dutra, he knew they would follow this path. “It always comes back to food,” he said. “I love taking care of people, and I found an amazing partner.”
The menu is fresh and affordable. 1850 features “twisted burgers” and salads at lunch, with more of a grill/steakhouse feel at night. We feature our signature “mountain food” options like quail and venison.
The restaurant serves beer and wine that includes craft beers from all over the world, affordable wines by the glass and some really good California wines by the bottle.
We hope 1850 will be a place where you feel welcome and comfortable. You don’t have to dress up, but you can. We have some booths and tables that are great for “date nights.” The bottom line for 1850’s owners is making people smile.
1850 is taking reservations. The restaurant can be reached at (209) 966-2229
