Merry Mountain Christmas Parade

The Merry Mountain Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting are a traditional part of Mariposa’s Christmas. This event includes a parade which is coordinated by the Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce and the Tree Lighting at the Historic Mariposa Courthouse.

The parade will start at 5:15 PM along Highway 140 starting at Coakley Circle and ending at 5th Street (participants will be turning around just past Best Western Plus). The road will re-open by 8:00 PM.

All parade entries must be lit as this is a night time parade.

The winners will be judged in four categories: Theme, Creativity, Presentation, and Performance. Awards will be presented to the Top 4 Scores. Winners will be notified by phone and e-mail the following Monday, (December 5, 2016) to make arrangements to have their awards picked up or delivered.

Once all winners have been notified, the results will be posted on this page, our Facebook Page, and in the Mariposa Gazette.

The parade is free to participate and awards are given out. For an application, e-mail Kyle Stivers at or call the office at (209) 966-2456. Immediately following the Parade, Santa & Mrs. Claus will make their way up to the Mariposa County Historic Courthouse where the beautiful Christmas Tree will be lit. Lions Club will be serving free hot dogs, provided by 1850 Restaurant, and free hot chocolate.

A big thank you to our sponsors for this event: Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino, 1850 Restaurant, Sierra Tel, and Scott’s Cleaning.
